Kokeshi Doll

Brittany and Phil Sylvia moved from Hawaii to Japan last year. They sent this Kokeshi doll for Jane Ritchie. It is the traditional doll for the month of July! It's gorgeous!

International Infant

As many of you know, Jane Ritchie will soon be an internationally traveling infant! We are headed to Singapore to see Paul. Yes, I am officially insane. It is 18 hours of travel time. I'm sure Jane Ritchie will sleep alot, but let's hope and pray that mommy sleeps a little, too!!

It is very funny to me that Jane Ritchie already has a passport. I didn't get one until I was 32 years old!! I couldn't resist posting a picture of it. It's too funny. Not the most flattering picture, but isn't that how it always goes? P.s. I hope its not illegal to post this picture!!!

Another visit

Jane Ritchie has already had more visitors. Auntie Andrea and Uncle John came all the way from D.C. and spent the night with us last night. I must admit that Jane Ritchie was a pretty good girl for them. Check out the picture below showing how John's pinkie is longer than Jane Ritchie's foot!

A Walk

I went on my first walk alone tonight with Jane Ritchie and Alex. It was quite amusing. Alex is afraid of getting run over by the stroller so he pulls the leash as far away as he can to walk. When we have to turn a corner, he cuts off the stroller, thereby almost getting run over. We have a long way to go!

Artist

We have an artist in the family! Jane Ritchie's cousin Sally Frances did this adorable painting of a monkey princess for the nursery. We love it!

My kind of town

Paul's friend Hector who was in our wedding, is a police officer for the city of Chicago. Check out this fantastic outfit he sent for Jane Ritchie. Thanks Hector!!!

Bonnet

Jane Ritchie has tons of bonnets and hats. Too bad none of them fit her yet! Fortunately, Aunt Ruthie just sent us this beautiful bonnet from Belgium the other day. It's a little big, but it fits better than the rest so we put it on Jane Ritchie to take her outside . The nurse at the hospital said the wind in Hawaii is bad for babies ears so we had to keep them covered up. Isn't she cute??

Sailing

Our nice neighbor, Ryan (13) competes in sailing competitions here in Hawaii. He offered to take us out in Pearl Harbor today. I tried to get May May and Dad to go and let me stay with the baby, but May May insisted on staying at home with Jane Ritchie! Shocker. Anyway, it was great fun. Let's hope Ryan remembers us when he's a big shot Olympian.
