Aunt Ruth's Visit
Aunt Ruth came to visit. Jane Ritchie had a great time being entertained! Ruth was a big help as we were getting ready for our trip to Guam. Here are some pictures from the weekend.

Where in the world is Jane Ritchie??
We got a new activity mat. It is a Gymini Total Playground Kick and Play. I like to call it...Activity Land! This thing is major visual stimulation. Jane Ritchie blends right in! Can you find her??? :) Near her feet you can see a kick pad. Whenver she kicks it just right, it lights up and plays some crazy animal noises. Fabulous!

Two Months
They consider Jane Ritchie two months old since today is September 11 and she was born on July 11. But, she's actually two months and one week old for a total of nine weeks. All this counting in weeks and months is very confusing to me.
We had her two month check up and she now weighs 11 pounds!! She cried when she got her three shots, but it didn't last long. She was such a good girl all day and did not get fussy until about 4 p.m. Right now she's swinging in her swing as happy as a clam!

The Menehune
I used to love that show Unsolved Mysteries. They had these awesomely cheesy reenactments of crimes, sometimes done by the actual people involved. I've done my own reenactment here to solve the mystery of Jane Ritchie. Each night I put her to bed like this:

She is still swaddled and still between her wedges, yet she is halfway down the crib, horizontal, with her head pressed up against the bars. I think it must be the Menehune!

She is swaddled and in between her wedges. Then, in the middle of the night (3 or 4 a.m.) I find her like this:

Friends
Jane Ritchie and I had a visit from her youngest friend the other day. Sarah and her mother came by with little Matthew (3 weeks old) to enjoy some air conditioning and try out Jane Ritchie's swing and bouncy seat. Matthew is a very hungry boy almost all the time, but here he is catching a quick nap at our house!

Jane Ritchie's First Trip
Jane Ritchie's first trip (to Singapore to see her Daddy) went exceptionally well. I was not worried about taking her to Singapore because I know it is a first rate place, but I was terribly worried about traveling 18 hours with a 7 week old. I must say that I have heard alot of complaints about United Airlines lately and that was another thing that worried me. Turns out, however, the United international flights are fabulous. It helped that I was bumped to business class for three out of the four flights. But, even when I was in coach, I thought the service was great. Everyone is so nice to you when you have a baby on a plane!
I had no idea, but they actually have two kinds of bassinets for babies to use on the planes. One of them attaches to a certain place on the bulkhead wall and the other is just a zip up box of sorts that sits on the floor. Here is Jane Ritchie chillin' in her United Airlines bassinet. It was GREAT not to have to hold her the whole time. Like Beyonce, she's an independent woman. She likes to stretch her legs.

When we finally made it to Singapore at around midnight, Jane Ritchie was sound asleep! I felt bad that she did not open her eyes to meet her Daddy, but he was still very very happy to see her.

Jane Ritchie was so excited to see her daddy that she didn't want to sleep much that night!!!
Singapore was great. I highly recommend it as a travel destination. It rained alot while we were there. I felt like I was in Mobile! But, other than that, it was a great trip. We did some shopping and eating and shopping and eating. Jane Ritchie is a good shopper! We also went to the zoo, which would have been better if it hadn't poured down rain on us. But, I got to feed the crazy kangaroos, which was fun.

This hippo has the Blackshear butt!
