BTW, GWC and the Tuskegee Airmen

On the way to Auburn we stopped in Tuskegee to check out the sites. Booker T. Washington's home was closed for renovation, but we got to see the George Washington Carver museum and the Tuskegee campus. On the way back to the interstate we went to the airfield to see the Tuskegee Airmen museum. Right now the museum is pretty small, but they have built a new hangar which is opening in a couple of weeks. So, eventually it should be a pretty nice attraction.

War Eagle

Last weekend we went to Auburn for the big game. It was a great weekend! Jane Ritchie learned to say War Eagle and actually got to see the eagle at the start of the game! She also loved the Goodyear blimp and pointed to it every time it came around the stadium. We had fun tailgating with Dad's campaign and Paul really enjoyed his first SEC football game. The only bad part was that Auburn lost. boo.

Next stop -- Talladega!

New Things

The biggest new thing is that Jane Ritchie can walk like a pro now. Those who know about knee walkers say that at some point they just get up and walk. And, that's what she did! This video was taken on her second day of walking.

Another new thing is that she is going to Mothers Day Out three days a week. Today when I left her she didn't even cry! What a big girl!

We also got a new rocking cow yesterday at Tuesday Morning. Check it out!

Hotlanta

We went to Atlanta last weekend. Keith, Catherine and Campbell were supposed to meet us so everyone could go to a Braves game, but Campbell got sick and they weren't able to make it. So, we went anyway because we already had a hotel room. We stayed at Hotel Indigo which is downtown right across from the Fox Theater. It was nice and they are very dog friendly so Alex had a good time, too!

We went to the aquarium and Jane Ritchie loved seeing all the fish. We also went out to Suwanee to see our friends Mindy and Kevin Kovalchik. Mindy and Kevin have four adorable children, and Jane Ritchie had a good time playing with them. I wish I had taken a picture of all of them together but I forgot!

Jane Ritchie also met her Uncle Jason and Aunt Lacey for the first time. They took us to a yummy Mexican restaurant on Friday night . They told us all about their adventures in L.A. when they went to see their good friend Michael Johns on American Idol. Here they are at their loft with Jane Ritchie!

I'm addicted to Flair

If you are on Facebook and have Flair then you know what I mean. I have too much Flair to display on my board. Every once in a while I decide I have to remove old Flair to make room for new Flair. This is always sad and it is hard for me to part with old Flair. Here's my current Flair. It's not the best it can be. I think I need to work on it some more.

Franklin

This weekend we went up to Franklin, TN to visit with Paul's dad and some of the Reinhardt clan. Great Grandmother Jane came from Bristol, Paul's sister Jane and her husband Matt came from Knoxville and Paul's brother John came up from Huntsville.

We had a relaxing time hanging out and letting Jane Ritchie entertain us! Oh, and we also saw Great Uncle Keith, Great Aunt Sue and Cousin Neil. They had us over for dinner and it was fabulous. They even got Paul to eat crab stuffed baked potatoes. yum!

I didn't take very many pictures but I had to get a good one of the three Janes! Gorgeous!

Grandma Marty

Last week we had a fun visit with Grandma Marty. She drove all the way here from Virginia to see Jane Ritchie! We did lots of antique shopping and went to the art museum for a military open house.

Marty came bearing many gifts. She brought us an antique ladder, an old trunk of mine that she had redone for us, a rocking chair for Jane Ritchie and a stool that was Paul's when he was little. See pictures below of the cuteness!

Almost 14 months

Jane Ritchie will be 14 months old on Sept. 11. She is talking up a storm. It's mostly gibberish but now she says some words like, "please", "cracker", "meow", "Alex", "Momma", "Dada", "quack", "water", "truck" and "bird". She knows that bees buzz, cows moo, monkeys hoot and holler, cats meow, dogs bark, and trains choo choo.

She is making great strides with walking, although knee walking is still her main mode of travel. She will walk really well while holding onto one of your hands and just tonight she took 7 or 8 unassisted steps. Whew! I was worried she would go to kindergarten walking on her knees!

She starts Mothers Day Out this week at Cloverdale Baptist. It's right up the street so it will work out great. Wish us luck!

The Beach

We had a great time at our annual Beach Week with the Sessions side of the family. This year we stayed with Aunt B and Uncle Eddie at Fort Morgan. Everyone was able to come for a few days except for Sam and Angela. boo...hiss...

Uncle Eddie took the guys fishing and John caught two big amberjack. They were very yummy fried as nuggets as well as grilled by May May.

Jane Ritchie ended up loving the beach. If she could walk, she would have run right into the waves!
