Trip to D.C.

Jane Ritchie made her first trip to D.C. last week. She had a great time and learned many new things. She claps all the time, waves at everyone and even dances! Below are some pictures and videos of the highlights. May May and Aunt B came back to California with us so expect another post on our California adventures!

Mountain Climber

Jane Ritchie LOVES Alex's dog bed. She makes a run (or crawl) for it at least 15 times a day. So, we decided to prop it up against the wall. As you can see from this video, that didn't stop her!

Catching up...

We had a fun weekend in Pacific Grove for the annual Good Ol' Days festival. There was a parade, arts and crafts and tons of food! They even had really fancy carnival rides for kids. (As opposed to the scary ones I've seen at the State Fair in Mobile!) The weather was great, and it was actually kind of hot, which is rare for this area. Jane Ritchie loved her first parade!

A while back we had a visit from Cheryl and Reza Wrathall. They were in Hawaii for a short time with us and are old friends of Paul's. They live in San Diego, but Reza's family lives in Abtos, so they love to take the Express Jet up to Monterey to visit. We showed them around Pacific Grove and they took us to Santa Cruz!

Walkin' Across America

No, we haven't decided to walk all the way from California to Alabama this summer, but we are doing a virtual walk across America online! Well, Paul is running and I am walking. My mom, Aunt Tutti and cousin Lizzie are all doing it, too!

You log your miles every week and it actually shows you a visual of where you are on the way from Virginia to Oregon. Right now it says Paul is 11.83 miles from Williamsburg, VA. Very cool!

If you want to join in, just go to the website below and sign up. If you want to add us as "partners" you can do that too. When you add partners you can see their progress or try to race them, etc. You'll need our IDs to add us. Paul is number 51634 and I am number 51630.

I expect that Paul will beat me since he runs so much, but I got a pedometer today and I'm going to wear that thing ALL THE TIME!

Click here to sign up! http://exercise.lbl.gov/user/userHome.html

P.S. The picture above is where I am on the virtual walk!

It's Official!

Montgomery, AL 001

As some of you may know, we were supposed to report to Columbus, GA in July for Paul to attend the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation. All of his classes would have been in Spanish, which is why he is currently learning Spanish at the Defense Language Institute.

Well, because of many different factors, he realized that going to WHINSEC was not such a great idea. His detailer worked some magic and we just got orders today for Montgomery, AL. Paul will be going to the Air War College there at Maxwell AFB. Needless to say, we are very excited!!! School starts at the first of August, so we'll be leaving California in July. We are looking forward to a very busy year in Alabama!

Best Friends

These days wherever there is Alex, there is Jane Ritchie!
