Weekend Trip

We recently took a weekend trip down to Gainesville.  Not a typical destination, but I have been wanting to visit the town of Micanopy, FL.   It turned out to be a really cute little town.  Very little.   It had cute old homes and many antique shops.    I brought our babysitter with us, which helped tremendously.  I don't know if I could travel more than two hours with the kids by myself!   We stayed in a hotel, which Jane Ritchie loved.  She did not want to leave.  We went back to the Florida Museum of Natural History, which has a butterfly garden.  

We plan on doing this trip again in July to meet our friends that live in St. Pete.  They have two little boys, so it will be super fun for Jane Ritchie.    oh, I got Jane Ritchie an Ipod Touch.  A friend told me that his 4 year old has one and loves it.  I was not sure if JR could do it, but she did great.  She only had problems keeping her earphones in!    It is so much better than having the DVD player in the car.

Jane Ritchie has become quite the artist.  She loves to sit and paint, which gives me a wonderful break!  One of the little girls we see often at boat functions actually calls Jane Ritchie "that little artist".  ha!   I like to name her paintings.

Paul requested more pictures so here are some of Jim Beau!   Has started to get that crazed look in his eyes when he sees the flash of the camera!  I have so many picture of Jane Ritchie like that!

I've had a little trouble getting Jim Beau to enjoy his "first foods".   Here he is eating apples, which he clearly isn't sure about!  You can see a video of him if you click on "our videos" on the sidebar!

Funny girl

Jane Ritchie has been a little testy since Paul left, but she's still pretty funny! She cried when I dropped her off at school the other day. Her teacher, Miss Karen, knows that Paul is gone. She said that she asked Jane Ritchie, "Are you missing somebody?" and Jane Ritchie said, "No, but my Mommy is." ha! She must sense that I'm sometimes on the brink of losing it!

The other night she kept saying that she wanted to read the "cares" before she went to bed. I could not understand what she was talking about. Finally I realized she wanted to read the "prayers"!!! She has a book of First Prayers that she really likes. She even requests certain ones. I thought "cares" was a pretty good name for "prayers"!
